Land Scam Alert: Three Charged with Obtaining Property by False Pretenses
Three Charged in Land Fraud Scheme: How They Obtained Property by False Pretenses

Three individuals have been charged with the crime of acquiring land through fraudulent means. The charge sheet indicates that on April 18, 2017, the defendants—Joseph Wamalwa, Cecilia Wangare, Benson Ndegwa, Wesonga Sijeyo, and Jairus Musumba—are alleged to have collaboratively and intentionally secured the registration of a land parcel at the land titles registry located in Nairobi County.
They reportedly utilized a title certificate for a property situated in Kayole, deceitfully claiming that this land was actually in Dandora.

During a court appearance at the Milimani court on June 11, 2025, it was noted that three of the accused had failed to appear for their scheduled plea on June 9, 2025, with only Joseph Wamalwa present. He was subsequently granted release on a bond of KSH 100,000 or an alternative cash bail of KSH 50,000.
The remaining defendants, through their legal counsel, sought bail from the court; however, the prosecution requested that the arrest warrant for Cecilia Wangare, who was absent, be upheld. The magistrate agreed to issue the warrant for her arrest and scheduled a follow-up mention of the case.
