Erick Munene Mate and Kelvin Mugambi Muthee appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Susan Shitubi, where they pleaded not guilty to four charges. The case involves a disputed property located in Imara Daima Estate, Nairobi County.
The prosecution alleged that the accused forged a Certificate of Title, falsely claiming it was legitimately issued by the Ministry of Lands, with the document dated October 13, 1988.
They reportedly presented this forged certificate to the directors of Placid View Limited as if it were a valid title deed for the property. Additionally, between November 19 and November 24, 2020, the accused allegedly defrauded SOKO WOCHE IMALA by claiming they could sell the land, valued at Ksh22 million, and obtained Ksh11 million in the process.
The court set their bail at Ksh2 million each, requiring one contact person for their release, or an alternative bond of Ksh5 million with two sureties. The case is
scheduled for mention on November 14, 2023.
